I watch my new puppy roll on the carpet,
She has fur that dribbles off her body like cotton balls
Her paws are giant snowmen
Her tail flags in the air, as well as her tongue
Tongue so pink it reminds me of pepto bismol
That I had to take that morning.
"Get off the carpet!" I yell,
But she doesn't listen ,
Cuz she's a puppy and puppies are made to create and make mayhem, not obey.
She laughs at me instead, a chortled yip, and she tosses her chew toy in the air.
I want to call my sister, tell her to take this puppy back where she came from, that I have too much work to take care of such a thing,
When suddenly I find myself on the carpet. It's big and red and wide, and my tense body relaxes when my puppy snuggles up next to me.
"Ok, I'll rest here only for a few minutes," I yawned and smiled at her.
We ended up sleeping all afternoon, the carpet our bed, the sun our blanket.
