You asked if you could walk me home We Began to walk North;

The Fire in the Rain

You asked if you could walk me home

We Began to walk North;

Only because we knew bad things go South

That's when it started to rain on our new

beginning.

There we were

Standing under that lampost on 17th St with

dim light

We just stood there for what was forever

I could see the water droplets forming

On the tips of your hair and edges of

Your eyelashes

I complained about my running makeup.

But it was alright, you just smiled.

You say you like it better that way,

Smudges and all.

We kissed under that lampost on 17th St with

dim light

I had always wanted to kiss in the rain.

Our clothes were drenched -

But so was my heart.

Everyone says there is a calm before the storm

But you were my calm during the storm

The beauty in my surrounding chaos

We created Fire amidst Rain.
