PTSD

by kateurquhart

Post traumatic stress disorder...

From things I've never done,

Places I've never been

And wars I've never won.

From memories that I don't remember,

Flashbacks I've never seen,

Voices that I can't recall

That haunt me when I dream,

From folks I've never met before

And never will again.

Now that bombs no longer hurt me.

Now that pillows cause me pain.

@bernardtwindwil I completely agree! People don't seem to understand the long term effect of abuse or traumatic experiences. I'm glad you liked my poem!

Thank you!! This is a subject very near and dear to me. Your graphics were exceptional. The world needs to wake up to the fact that PTSD affects people who are not directly involved in the traumatic event. The word wove a blanket of calm to rest the sufferer. I loved it. Great work!!!!
