...I didn't know what to do, I just knew it needed to stop. Grave after grave after grave...I got tired of burying my friends....
It was a cold October evening. The Autumn leaves were falling, red, green, yellow, and other various colors. I ,like most girls, couldn't go to school.
Though I was lucky enough to have a father who was well educated. He taught my older sister, and then he started teaching me...although, he never finished.
One day after going with the other village men carrying pitchforks and torches, he never came back. Leaving my lessons on hold, and my family without him.
I didn't let that stop me though. My sister continued my lessons. And soon enough I was able to read, write and do math on my own.
And, even if it was looked down on at the time, I thought it was cool I could do those things. Now- just because I was smart, doesn't mean that I didn't have friends.
I played with the neighborhood girls most of my free time. There were a few people i considered my friends though.
But that happy time only lasted but a year...
One day, there was a large crowd gathered around the large tree in the park. I, being curious, walked up to see what caused the the commotion.
As i saw what- or rather who- it was, i dropped the items in my arms as tears pricked the corners of my eyes.
My long term friend, Eliza, was there. blood spilling from her head with a note on the tree written in blood as well.
though it wasn't signed, it managed to strike fear in the people i called family.
