Emptiness across the room,
notes stiff dullness nearing soon.
Woefully my breath constricts,
thoughts become a stubborn itch.
But emptiness turns a smile,
after staring for awhile.
Sly silence begins to creep,
as I feel my carcass peep.
Glad to see the smiling face,
come to wake me from this race.
Odd how I conclude the run,
to find I, the smiling one.
Smiling figures dance the scope,
just as I had found my hope.
Thrust my neck within the noose,
Conformed, my foot had unloosed.
One smile reduced to a frown,
briskly turning upside down.
Meaningless beyond the tomb,
hidden from the public's gloom.
