Mary and I got in the car and started driving up the street. Mary was being so friendly by driving me to all the houses of people that had fed me at some point in my life.
I was going to thank them all for being so kind to me.
"So how many houses are there, Moe?"
"Mary, you ask questions that excite me, ya know?"
"Thanks! So tell me again, how many houses?"
"Well i'd say about 35! The first one is over by the grocery store. You know the one that I mean?"
"Yes, the house where our child lives?"
"That's the one. Let's go there first and say thanks to our boy!"
We pulled up into an old dirt driveway. There were chickens running through the yard and the leaves on the tree's were all a beautiful yellow.
Once the car was parked I got out and made lots of noise with my mouth. "Boy! Your dad is home! I'm back from the war!"
My wife looked at me funny. "What war?"
"Haha, just kidding, I thought that it would be funny to say that. I kinda feel like i'm in a movie right now, ok?"
Suddenly the front door popped open and out came a man in blue overalls. "Howdy, partner. You my dad?"
"That's right, son! I'm here to thank you for that time you cooked your mother and I a duck for dinner! You remember the time?"
"In fact i do, father! I'm glad to see that you remember! And thank you for coming by to share your gratitude."
"Of course, son! Please let me know when you will be cooking another duck! Your mother and I will be here at the drop of a hat!"
"Aw, thanks pa! How wonderful it has been to see you! I must now get back to playing checkers with my wife!"
My wife and I got in our car and continued on the next house.
