A philosophical approach to daily walking.

Walking and Gazing

Today, the weather is clear and beautiful

It's the Fall season and the colors are bountiful

Red, yellow, and brown leaves sway back and forth

As they gently fall and their hues begin to morph

The sky is so blue and the sun is bright

Birds are in formation on their great flight

The sounds of the soft breeze tickles my ears

A feeling I know will last for years

Bundled up and comfortable in my attire

It does, some days, cause me to tire

But all that's needed is to relax and see

In my world, this world, I am free

Click, clank, my boots will sound

Heading straight and coming around

My paths are ordered or they're erratic

But I don't worry. I don't panic

Alas, today's fine, yet the following are uncertain

It's a shame I can't peek behind the curtain

Yesterday's history, today's a gift, but tomorrow's a mystery

Though I will push forward, kindly or deviantly

There was a day where it was dark and windy

The temperatures were low and the air was chilly

It mattered not, for I've been through worse

To me, that day was willing to reimburse

It created a scenery of twilight

The sort of image that brings me delight

To see God's rays shine upon the Earth

To view it as analogous to rebirth

Click, clank, my boots will sound

Heading straight and coming around

My paths are ordered or they're erratic

But I don't worry. I don't panic

Click, clank, my boots will sound

No matter what I'm forward bound

Gear in hand and the terrain ahead

I go about in my own stead

The distance I travel is virtually irrelevant

For I'm one with the world, that is a testament

Life and death are very definite

But my walk is completely infinite

Up and down, forward and backward

I can't help but continue onward

There are sights to see and people to meet

There are many who are a pleasure to greet

And, I think that's it for now

So I'll leave you with a proper bow

I'll see you next time, my dear fellow

Remember to be full and never hollow
