I remember it so clearly,

That fateful day in May.

A brief glimpse of the exact opposite

Of what has come to pass.

Your blue-green eyes, they sparkled.

Even though they were rimmed with grey.

They aren’t the ocean.

And definitely not the sky.

They show the dark side of you

Just outside of the light I love so much.

I never told you that.

I guess I was ashamed,

Of paying too much attention.

I fell in love with those eyes.

And your smile.

I can't forget all the other quirks about you,

That I can no longer enjoy.

This was tragically sad. It speaks volumes about youth and the ardor of their relationships. As you gain experience, you will see the red flags that people try to hide. Great post!!!!
