One wish.

by justshutupxd

You said I could have anything I wish

Yet you know you are unwilling to give that one thing.

Since you are adherent to that idea,

Hear me out.

My one wish, if I could have it,

Is to wake up everyday

To the sound of your breath on my neck,

The warmth of your lips on my cheek,

The touch of your fingers on my skin,

The feel of your heart beating with mine…

Knowing that I could never find that feeling

With anyone other than you.

But giving me that,

To fulfill my one wish,

Is too much.

Is breaking the one statement you’ve made,

That seems to be true.

@justshutupxd It was perfectly clear that you were pissed, hurting, and thinking muddy thoughts. But you came through with an eloquent indictment of those shitheads.

@bernardtwindwil Thanks. I wrote this half-asleep at 3 something in the morning a couple of weeks after my ex-boyfriend started dating my ex-best friend. I was pretty upset and rather sleep-deprived at the time. I don't quite understand how it could be anything remotely close to great but I'll take the compliment.

I had to read this three times to se if I was missing anything. The sadness of the first person POV was palpable. I think no one could possibly doubt as to who you intended to indict in these verses of vengeance. It appears that the second person POV gave you their heart but you wanted their soul. The writing was well done and described the scene perfectly. This is a great example of the genre!!!!!!
