Walking my way from tree to tree,
forest as far as I can see.
Pine needles are on natures floor,
there’s so much the path has in store.
The sun shines through, lighting the way,
a beautiful summertime day.
A squirrel runs across the trail,
I’m careful to avoid a snail.
Birds are squawking, and they’re singing,
nature’s noontime bells are ringing.
I see wide water through the trees.
It’s large, but filled with gentle seas.
Further on I leave the river,
lots of shade but not a shiver.
Above the trees and way up high,
fluffy white clouds and bright blue sky.
The underbrush is thick and green,
everything has a summer sheen.
A few bends back to water’s brink,
I find a place to stop and think.
A barge and train are shipping goods,
I watch from my seat in the woods.
The beauty of this place, no lack.
I’ll sit for hours, and then go back.
