I’ve given up my privacy, and shared my scars with you.

Farewell Privacy

I’ve given up my privacy,

and shared my scars with you.

Physical and otherwise.

When I was really hurting.

I felt so alone.

For a long time I couldn’t find anyone.

No one who suffered like I did.

So I started writing.

And people started reading.

I have bared my soul before you.

You have helped and encouraged me.

Now if you google my name,

you find my poems on self harm.

It hurts my reputation.

So many people judge it.

Employers won’t hire me.

But I don’t care.

Because it was the right thing to do.

To share these scars with all of you.

So if you are like me, like I was,

know you are not alone.

You are never alone in this.

Society may not like talking about it.

But it is a common ailment.

My name is Joshua,

and I am a cutter.

I wish they had a group like A.A.

Cutters anonymous.

We could all support each other.

But I’ve found no such groups.

I have however, found all of you.

Thank you for following.

Thank you for reading,

and commenting, and liking.

I want you to feel less alone.

As you all have made me less alone.

I’ll never have my privacy back.

But I have all of you.

And that is better.

Always, that is better.
