An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town.
The boy rode on the donkey, and the old man walked beside
Passersby said what a shame it was for the old man to walk
..while this young boy rode.
Maybe the critics were right, thought the man and boy
..so they changed places.
Other people remarked, “What a shame!
..This man makes that poor little boy walk.”
So, the two then decided they would both walk.
Soon, the old man and boy passed other who thought..
..that they were stupid to walk, when they had a donkey to ride.
So, they both rode the donkey..
Sure enough, the man and boy passed those..
..who criticized them for putting such a load on the poor donkey.
Thinking these folks were probably right..
..the boy and man decided to carry the donkey.
As they crossed the bridge, the hapless two lost their grip
..on the animal who fell into the river and drowned.
Moral of the story? If you try to please everyone..
..you might as well kiss your ass goodbye!
