Withered

All we have is our word, And for us that was mostly true-

Words were sustenance Spoken and textual Threading distance Stringing hearts To a nested place Soft and restoring

But without the shine Of attention or effort Words withered, retreating Leaving empty silence Screaming louder Than anything uttered
