It’s late past midnight, I’ll now go to sleep

First I’ll say my prayers, but only so brief

Then I’ll read your letters from 1976

To keep you in my mind, till the day we meet

Waaaaaaar

Something that just came out of my mind

1978 It’s late past midnight, I’ll now go to sleep First I’ll say my prayers, but only so brief Then I’ll read your letters from 1976 To keep you in my mind, till the day we meet

3 years have passed after you’ve joined the war Re-reading these letters is what keeps me alive I miss you, O’ how I wish to the stars For us to go back to 1975

A sudden murmur of the wind kept me awake When a squeak on our door brings out my faith Faking to be asleep, urging you to come to bed Hold me one last time before you leave again

When the last letter came in 1977 I know you’ll find your way back to heaven But I’ve prayed you'll say goodbye before you go And guess you’re home now, guess you’re home
