A poem about sexual assault.

Dress

Dear attacker

I love you

I love the way you took my innocence then manipulated it into something

Only you could hold

I love the way you told me you would never hurt me

Then objectify me in the same breath

I love the way you took away my body

Before I knew it was supposed to be mine

I love the way how you lived up so perfectly to the standard fuckboy

I love the way you told me you loved me

Then showed me a list of all the girls you’d fuck

And expected me to keep you

I love the way you requested ‘pics? ;)’

Whenever there was a stagger in the conversation

I love the way you saw my palace of a body

Only as treasure for you to take and take and take

I built a moat and barbed wire fences around myself

To protect against people like you

I still flinch away from my lover’s touch

And that is not a metaphor

I love the way you still lie to everyone

Then take advantage of the next person who falls for you

I love the way you told me nobody cares for me but you

And I fucking believed it

I have run out of compassion for those who think of me as nothing but a sex toy

I have run out of compassion for those who support you

I have run out of compassion for people like you

I have run out of compassion for you

Dear attacker

You’re the reason I have panic attacks at two in the morning

You’re the reason I want to burst into flames when anyone touches me

You’re the reason I stay in the closet

You’re the reason I have trust issues

You’re the reason I hate myself

You ruined me and you don’t even care

You’re the match to my gasoline

You’re the floor to my glass

You’re the cold winter to my garden

You killed me and you still stand here and call my corpse a liar

While my blood is still on your hands

Along with a girl I used to call my best friend

Dear attacker

My skin is made of razor blades

Touch me again and you will go home bleeding
