'And the scars won't hide behind pulled-down sleeves,
the burning won't vanish as pain comes in heaves.'
(Inspired by today's prompt: impulse and domestic abuse. *May be triggering*)

Coerce

And the scars won't hide behind pulled-down sleeves, the burning won't vanish as pain comes in heaves.

And the scars won't hide behind pulled-down sleeves, the burning won't vanish as pain comes in heaves. And the bruises of your fingers turn purply-blue, as you pushed me to be frightened and scared of you.

And the tears won't dry up, as deep as the ocean, as time stills its battered tracks, no longer in motion.

And the tears won't dry up, as deep as the ocean, as time stills its battered tracks, no longer in motion. And the memories refuse to fade from my mind, as I scream out loud, oblivious to mankind.

And the anger you collected, red hot and pure, Subjected to me as I scampered through that door.

And the anger you collected, red hot and pure, Subjected to me as I scampered through that door. And you acted out of impulse and anger and hate, Now take a look at me, I'm the mess you did create.

... I know I've written a piece on domestic abuse before, but I try to write around the prompt now, so I just thought the topic would fit.

If you're wondering why all the lines start with 'and', it's because in my English Class, we were studying a poem called 'Poem' by Simon Armitage. A fabulous read by the way.

It describes a man's volatile relationship with his family, so I was inspired by that.

Please take away from this: domestic abuse is never right. It is not justifiable and cannot be tolerated. If you know anyone who suffers like this, please reach out and help them. Thanks.

That's Iqra... OUT.
