A poem about grief. Specifically, after the loss of a child. Thank you for reading. <3 (Title slide: 'Emptiness' by Albert Gyorgy.)

Always Here

*** Yesterday evening, we found out that a relative of mine gave birth to her stillborn son. I find it's a topic that none of my family talk about, they don't know how to handle grief, in a sense. Essentially, they tend to skirt around the topic or anything to do with dealing with grief.

So I do what I always do and wrote a poem. Thank you for reading my words. <3 (The title slide is a bronze statue titled 'Emptiness', portraying the void that grief leaves us with. It was made by Albert Gyorgy, a grieving parent.)

I am the sunrise, in each and every day,

I am the sunrise, in each and every day, pollen dust that does so gently sway.

I am the sunrise, in each and every day, pollen dust that does so gently sway. I am the flitting voice upon a breeze,

I am the sunrise, in each and every day, pollen dust that does so gently sway. I am the flitting voice upon a breeze, peach-crinkled sky, a playful tease.

Find me always in rocks and rivers,

Find me always in rocks and rivers, my face will come in silver slivers.

Find me always in rocks and rivers, my face will come in silver slivers. And when you sit under a tree,

Find me always in rocks and rivers, my face will come in silver slivers. And when you sit under a tree, I am caught in those moments

Find me always in rocks and rivers, my face will come in silver slivers. And when you sit under a tree, I am caught in those moments of undisturbed glee.

I rest upon violets, a rosy petal,

I rest upon violets, a rosy petal, or when winter begins to settle.

I rest upon violets, a rosy petal, or when winter begins to settle. And when snow falls in dusty flakes,

I rest upon violets, a rosy petal, or when winter begins to settle. And when snow falls in dusty flakes, see my smile in half-frozen lakes.

When it's time to rest your weary head,

When it's time to rest your weary head, sing lullabies, whisper words ne'er said.

When it's time to rest your weary head, sing lullabies, whisper words ne'er said. I'll sit and watch, never interfere,

When it's time to rest your weary head, sing lullabies, whisper words ne'er said. I'll sit and watch, never interfere, I did not die.

I did not die. I'm always here.
