Happy Mother's Day to those celebrating! A poem for my mother! (Also, I promised @salmakhatoon918 that I wouldn't do something scary/dark, so here it is!) :D <3

A Diamond In The Rough

Looking back now,

Looking back now, You were a lump of coal to me.

Looking back now, You were a lump of coal to me. Your weathered lines and

Looking back now, You were a lump of coal to me. Your weathered lines and Dwindling patience

Looking back now, You were a lump of coal to me. Your weathered lines and Dwindling patience Were entirely disliked.

So I traded you out,

So I traded you out, Ventured far and near,

So I traded you out, Ventured far and near, Fooled by promises of

So I traded you out, Ventured far and near, Fooled by promises of Gems, their colourful lustre shine

So I traded you out, Ventured far and near, Fooled by promises of Gems, their colourful lustre shine Winking; a false friend.

So we grew apart-

So we grew apart- Our relationship

So we grew apart- Our relationship t u m b l i n g

So we grew apart- Our relationship t u m b l i n g Like wearied stone walls.

Now, those jewels I craved,

Now, those jewels I craved, Those special moments in life,

Now, those jewels I craved, Those special moments in life, They shone...

Now, those jewels I craved, Those special moments in life, They shone... like your eyes,

Now, those jewels I craved, Those special moments in life, They shone... like your eyes, Like when I was a child, before

Now, those jewels I craved, Those special moments in life, They shone... like your eyes, Like when I was a child, before It all tumbled like dominoes.

So when I truly opened my eyes,

So when I truly opened my eyes, I realised that the gleaming I strove for,

So when I truly opened my eyes, I realised that the gleaming I strove for, Those pockets of freedom,

So when I truly opened my eyes, I realised that the gleaming I strove for, Those pockets of freedom, Their shine truly came from-

A piece of coal

A piece of coal that had hardened under pressure

A piece of coal that had hardened under pressure Forming and reshaping into a diamond,

A piece of coal that had hardened under pressure Forming and reshaping into a diamond, One that had never left me,

A piece of coal that had hardened under pressure Forming and reshaping into a diamond, One that had never left me, And whose light I

A piece of coal that had hardened under pressure Forming and reshaping into a diamond, One that had never left me, And whose light I unknowingly

A piece of coal that had hardened under pressure Forming and reshaping into a diamond, One that had never left me, And whose light I unknowingly wrapped myself up in.

Happy Mother's Day to those celebrating! Apparently it's only Mother's Day in the UK? If this is the case, Happy Early Mother's Day to everyone else!

This poem was about the rocky (*badum-tish* see what I did there? Rocky? Coal? *laughs hysterically*) Anyways, the rocky relationship that I had with my mom which I am always building up. Hope you enjoyed! :D <3
