when a fire is ignited,
it starts off with a flare,
burns at a blinding capacity,
creates a sensation as though you’re standing next to the sun.
when a fire dies,
it goes away slowly and then all at once,
all that’s left is smoke and ash
creates a sensation as though you’re suffocating.
when i kissed him,
i felt that fire starting.
as we lay in bed, tangled sheets, creating moments we’ll never regret
the sensation that nothing could ever go wrong.
when he left,
it came crashing down, slowly and then all at once,
all that was left was unspoken feelings and tears,
the sensation that nothing would ever be right with the world.
a fire can destroy you and everything around you completely,
ironic how love can too.
