A Piece On The Summer We Spent Together

by hannahdycus

It was the summer the soft, sweet kisses turned to Bright, hot panic flaring in the space between my ribs

It was the summer the bright, hot panic turned to Dark, dull hatred burning in my heart

It was the summer of your lipstick On tissues left scattered on my floor

Of your lipstick Smeared onto my stomach, onto my sheets.

It was the summer of Best friends forever and you are the love of my life

Of no-friends-but-you forever And let me out of this

It was the summer my room Turned to our room And our room, it turned to your room

It was the summer your smile Became a feature of my nightmares

It was the summer you joined my list

Of least favorite people Of people who hurt me Of never talk to again

It was the summer you scared me into submission And made me believe i wasn't worth even that.

It was the summer i finally realized what i was worth

And the summer that, even that, was too little, too late

This is a tremendous piece of art. The emotions bouncing around like the ball of a pinball machine. You are capable of such deep honesty in telling your story.
