They light up when you give them a hug,
Then you release them up into the night sky.
They glow up with a bright yellow glow,
Shining like the stars.
We always loved to go,
Chase them around and put them in jars.
But what do they feel like when we trap them in that glass?
Alone and isolated from its kind.
What do they do to make the time pass?
Before it's time to let them go and say goodbye.
Sometimes I feel like if I was that tiny little creature,
Trapped in a world full of hurt and lies.
Where being alone is my worst feature,
When I'm cooped up in this world, like a lonely firefly.
