Woods and tails and beady eyes
My oh my
What sweet surprise does
Lie behind that willow tree?
Caution children, that's the way,
The taller trees which groan and
Sway hold no power over you.
Please watch your step. And
If you hear a quickened whisper
Rolling from a gusty tongue,
Don't be scared, wild child.
Your adventure's just begun:
A dip through moonlit trees;
Dancing through a knotted knoll;
A teacher in two turtledoves;
One kiss from princess stole.
Enchantment rises near and far:
You're needed every-when.
And when at last you stagger home,
To your cabin deep in glen,
The forest greets your passing,
Painting pathways on the ground,
Rising from the blanket green
To lead you safe and sound.
Beautiful girl.
Handsome boy.
Sleep, and be at peace.
The whispering will your secrets
Keep,
Soft,
Like willow
Trees.
