Hum me a lullaby,
Hum me a lullaby, sing me to sleep.
Tell me getting rested is easy
Tell me getting rested is easy if you can count the sheep.
I’ll stay up all night,
I’ll stay up all night, afraid to close my eyes;
Afraid of the monster
Afraid of the monster lurking in the back of my mind.
We’ve become close friends;
We’ve become close friends; I see him every night.
Not once has he ever harmed me;
Not once has he ever harmed me; he just wants to see your fright.
I don’t mind his company,
I don’t mind his company, his puzzling glance and awkward eyes.
But when I want him to go away,
But when I want him to go away, into the room he flies.
This poem is based off of my sleep paralysis, which I experience on a weekly basis. I think it made a good inspiration for this writing piece. Thank you for reading!
