Daffodils - that were never supposed to wither away

the grayer shades of hollow winters

the grayer shades of hollow winters have lingered for too long

the grayer shades of hollow winters have lingered for too long, this time.

the sun is sowing empty promises

the sun is sowing empty promises in their backyards,

for the dainty irises could never endure the ire

of all those stormy gales,

and those scented wisterias could never bloom

and those scented wisterias could never bloom alone,

when the moon of their skies have turned down

quiet and pale.

there were those ivory butterflies,

wings -

wings - festooned with diamonds and gold,

but they ceased looking forth

to the belated spring,

for it was always much easier

to keep shivering in the cold.

nowadays,

nowadays, their eyes speaks of all the pain

nowadays, their eyes speaks of all the pain they never tried to unleash

nowadays, their eyes speaks of all the pain they never tried to unleash from their weeping souls,

and they kept waiting

and they kept waiting for all those wilted

and they kept waiting for all those wilted daffodils,

to come

to come and make them whole

to come and make them whole.
