More Things I've Never Told You

by ghostful

I think I truly hate you

In every essence of the word

The way you string people along

Like kites in your whimsical child-like skies

And I none the wiser fell

For your heartfelt lies

And brilliant tongue ties

Until I was entangled in this web

Of self-loathing, self-promising

But never fulfilling

I think I truly hate you

Because every time you’ve told me

That you love me

You’ve left me all the same

And the reason I ache is not just because it hurts

It’s because I let you do it to me

Over and over and over again

Till my heart is black and blue

And I can only think of you

It takes hating you

To truly know loving you

@bernardtwindwil thank u so much for this comment it's really made me rethink how I see this person. I've never been able to move on, but like you said I don't think I can dignify this emotion as love anymore. Thank you for your advice :)

I loved the way you put these cryptic emotions into words in a most lyrical fashion. This was excellent writing where you evoked and emotional response from anyone who read it. Take some advice from an old man, find someone else. This emotional attachment. I will not dignify it by calling it love. Love? It is not. You can do better. Great poem!
