your not art. but you don't have to be

Canvas

by ghostful

My heart is outlined in purple

Because it can't touch

Red ribbon sections you off

Art in my eyes

But not mine alone

So many admirers

Come and go with the passing months

Do you see me

When you stare back?

Or do you see a used up canvas

With too much grey

For your flecks of yellow

Hope

In my mind, my feelings are oceans thick

But on paper they are marker thin

Crayons snapped in two

Why can't I touch you?

Leave a handprint in blue

Like my eyes...

...Or yours

Art is beautiful

Admired

But all I want is to hold you

But I guess that's my own fault

For falling in love with a canvas

Who has no space left for me...

The world is full of canvases. This was a great allegory. I loved it. You certainly got your message across. Great job!!!
