My Freedom To Speak

by genaervin

Words. Why are you so offended by words?

They're just words.

My thoughts, my hopes, my dreams. Words.

I have an opinion and it may be different from yours

...but I don't get offended when you speak.

I let you say your piece, but you get so upset when I disagree.

Did something I say burst your bubble? Did my words remove you from your delusions?

I wasn't raised like you.

I've got my own mind.

We are individuals. We're not always going to agree.

But why must I hold my tongue when you speak?

You might not like what I have to say, but I'm going to say it anyway.

Words have the power to create change.

And if I can change something for the better, I'm going to try.

I'd prefer to do so with your input and insights because multiple points of view can create magic when they work to find common ground.

I'm not longer willing to remain silent, but I am willing to compromise and meet you halfway.

Are you willing to do the same?
