My thoughts on what startups entail...

Hardwork

Startups are about hardwork, giving it your all, and believing in the vision

Leadership

It may be cliche, but all startups start with great leadership. Whether it's one person, or a group, leadership is key.

Teamwork

Without teamwork, NO startup can succeed. Leave no one behind!

Be Open minded

There's no such thing as a stupid question. Be open in accepting criticism, feedback, and ideas from others.

Relax

Don't over stress, sometimes it's great to take a break, collect your thoughts, and relax.

HAVE FUN

If you're not having fun, maybe it's time to move on. Push forward only if you truly believe in the vision, and enjoy pursuing it.

@jeremiah Agree with what you said. Just was curious what your thoughts were :). @sydney - that's cool~, didn't know that about LinkedIN ;)

@geeky_yang @jeremiah I'm taking a class at Stanford right now on Blitzscaling. I think Reid said for LinkedIn, about a third of the staff didn't make it as they scaled up.

@geeky_yang Yeah. I'm not saying to fire people if they do something wrong. But I do think it is essential to fire very fast. In fact, part of scaling is firing a lot of people. Some people are good at the earlier phases of the startup. Most don't develop as fast as the company needs. I think this is true in the early days too. If your first few hires aren't great. Fire fast.

@jeremiah interesting point, can you elaborate a little more in detail?

Leave no one behind is an interesting one. I agree teamwork is important but leaving people behind quickly also seems important

@chromium @sydney - Agreed. Just read your post. Great stuff and I think I see the overlay :).

@geeky_yang @sydney I have this problem A LOT. I actually wrote this yesterday: https://usepencil.com/pla... More about dealing with stress, but very closely related to relaxing.

@sydney haha nice! I concur, I feel that the Valley should try to "relax" a lot more :). But, it's a learning curve? Hopefully we all can relax from time to time :).

@geeky_yang agree with you there. I think the rest of the world is MUCH better than the valley at relaxing. Having been around LA, I can say they have a much better idea of what this mystical word you use called "relax" is.

No worries @tango :P. Just an overall random list haha. If I had to choose, RELAX would be my top priority :)
