Only love her when she's dead
Swallowed whole by words unsaid
She sleeps among our gritty lies
A stab of truth to open eyes.
She walked among the living, shamed
Burdoned by the sharpest pain
It slid beneath her skin like glass
Haunting her with days that passed.
She never meant for this goodbye
But solace comes in quick demise
Now she's a thought and nothing more
A bruised and broken opened door.
She tried to tell us what she saw
The chafing life that rubbed her raw
We closed our eyes, our ears, our souls
And bundled up against the cold.
You see a perfect amber girl
Preserved in another world
But she will soon be cast away
Overcome by future days.
To keep the stifling guilt at bay
We give her life in hollow ways
Born again by selfish needs
An angel just to give us peace.
We act like we respect her pain
But we're just scared we'll do the same
She was not too perfect for this world
But just another broken girl.
