I guess this is goodbye

When You Came Back

You left me in radio silence five weeks ago reducing the symphony in my car to the engine's timid whisper

I took the bus because it held no memory of you the sounds were strangers each a reminder- there are melodies beyond you

Until the crackle of your voice came rushing back carrying a cacophony of rushhour, city tunes and the endless jam of traffic

The temptation is there- put you on speaker Replay the song of sickening beats Relive the past in neon reckoning

But I turn the volumn down into black Until your static fades back to the sweet murmur of the engine

and I hum a delicate tune It's solely mine.
