a poem for the sea

Twists & Turns

~ poem by foreverblue52

I shied away from the ocean's bite Nestling among the shield of the sand

But the turn of the tides twisted the night Water; so sudden, extended a playful hand

The rush of cold, followed by a tender tickle Washed away the dull, bitter ache

I never knew pain to be so fickle

Leaving paths of glittering foam in riveting haste

And so,

And so, I no longer strayed from the waves

For the twists and turns teach us to learn The water's freeze is as tentative as its breeze

And in its wake, you understand the courage it takes
