Oxy and Mallie were cousins.
Oxy was a quiet kid, kept to himself but wasn't afraid to argue. He often chose to work alone because dealing with “the stupidity of his classmates” was tiring.
Oxy’s appearance was somewhat odd, but it was never called out upon - he had made sure of that in Elementary School, with fights and big words that the bullies didn’t understand.
He had short, shaggy, grayish-white hair; along with his usual white sweatshirt and black pants. The sweatshirt had a gray ‘X’ on the left shoulder with that the only personal marking.
All of this fit with the pale skin and eyes such a light blue they were almost transparent. Almost the exact opposite of his dear cousin.
Mallie was a malicious girl. She lived in a house in the woods, secluded on her own, but never felt lonely. The voices that resided in her head kept her company.
Mallie had long, straight, pitch dark hair that flowed along a long-sleeved black shirt; leggings black as night,
as well as the cotton mask she hid her face with and the gloves that were never removed. Nobody knew of her origin despite her blood relatives.
Those who lived in town labeled her “The Shadow in the Woods.” Different stories spread about Mallie, each one more scary and disturbing than the previous.
One story said she had been a demon, summoned by a naive woman who wanted a “friend,” and later, Mallie ended up killing that woman.
Another suggested she had been born of the shadows in the forest, protected by the Fae that were also rumored to live in the area.
The reality of the matter was: her parents hadn’t realized that their child had lost her mind.
It was a mix of the hereditary insanity and the trauma that came with her parents ignoring her existence for the majority of her life.
This lack of parenting and sanity led to her becoming a shadow, who - once she was at an age she can’t quite remember now - killed her parents and fled to the small cabin she resides in now.
The murder was a gory masterpiece that she had spent hours on.
The rest of her blood relatives disowned her but had decided that at least one person should be somewhat present at her small, desolate home; and that Oxy would be the one to do it.
They figured that he was aberrant enough to get through to her without getting himself killed.
The story begins with a checkup that presented itself on a spring evening. Although, this one turns on its head rather violently.
