I hang over a shadow of light,
A dark glisten showing through the night.
As I try to squint to see more,
The dim flame recedes like the shore.
I start to fall as if being pulled by a chain,
My mind has to believe my body is insane.
Of all the things that could, my nose leads the way.
It drags me so close it smooshes against the gloomy ray.
My brain yells at me when I refuse to flee.
And just like with my nose, I follow my knee.
Even knowing this halo will hide and soon extinguish,
I let my heart keep beating for it until I diminish.
