I question myself whether ...

Thawing out.

I question myself Whether my heart even beats around you anymore Perhaps the winter froze it.

I pray the summer will thaw it out.

I yearn for it to come back Beat once more So I can swallow the overflow of thoughts crowding my throat.

I fight the fit wanting to spill from my lips and stop the words from harming ourselves But I feel they have begun to get a mind of its own.

Maybe even a heart of its own.
