Book review series #1: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Book review series #1 A Court of Thorns and Roses series

Author: Sarah J. Mass Genre: fiction Age rating: 15+

This is one of the best series I've ever read. There are three books and 1 novella (as of now) in this series. It is set in a fictional land, among the fae people and their 7 ruling courts. The plot revolves around a war with the ancient fae ruler of Hybern, and the never ending fights and incompatibilities between humans and Fae.

The first book, a court of thorns and roses is written in a beauty and the beast theme, but the series as a whole has no similarity to the fairy tale. The protagonist Feyre might not be your typical heroine, but is super powerful in both personality and well, powers.

The second book is the best and my favorite, because the way the author has ensured character development is mind blowing. The importance of women empowerment and independence is highlighted throughout the series and you literally just fall in love with the characters here. (I'm trying my best not to give spoilers)

The third book was wrapped up beautifully. So damn feel-good. I love how the conservative mindset of the people gradually changed. The way the protagonists carry themselves just oozes power and awe. It takes you through a journey of raw emotions.

Well I wouldn't be doing justice to the series if I don't write about Rhysand (Rhys). He is my favorite character in the entire series. Absolutely awesome. He's the Highlord of the nightcourt and the most powerful among the Highlords. His respect for women and his subjects, and that amazing sense of humor (with the perfect amount of sarcasm) just makes you fall in love with the character.

The loop holes in this series is a very minimal amount but the cliffhangers will drive you crazy. Give it a read and trust me when I say, you will love this. That's a promise.

And if you have read this one, try reading the Throne of glass series, written by the same author.

Thank you for reading :)
