Submission for the #Illogical prompt.

This poem is about illogically living life to be logical. Why do we do this to ourselves?!

Living Logically

Every morning, noon and night

Seem to unravel in the same,

Mundane routine.

Clear the sand from your eyes.

Remove the fluffy blanket of security

from your aching body.

Brace yourself

For those agonizing moments

when your feet first hit

the cold ground.

Then, for a quick second

You’ll asses yourself in the mirror.

I’ll glare at my eyes

Searching for the spirit that

Once resided in them.

I’ll feel for my heart,

once warm,

pulsating with fire.

My hair is dull with

To do lists.

My shoulders

Weighed down by worry.

And I think-

Is this all it’ll ever be?

I live to work or

Work to live?

Hey,

I’m just living?

Logically.

STOP!

No, not today.

Today will be different.

Today I will fight

The audacious fight.

I’ll ditch the mouse

And mount the Steed!

I’ll leave my home and search for

More

Miracles

And experience

That will re-ignite my flame!

And when someone tries to drag me back

I’ll-

Oh shit…

I’m going to be late.
