by erenah

in the time of control, in childhood

I was told

that I was not, per se, an individual being

but one made, conversely, with a view towards redeeming

the value of those ill-suited to

the Herculean task

of parenthood

sans determination; meant only to fulfil

the lives of these others, a father and mother, who

by indifference and recklessness

discarded me anyway

so childhood receded to a far-off shoreline

and I remained adrift a long time afterwards before I learnt

how to find my own purpose - indivisible

from the finding

of my self

change is the nature of a turning world

yet, we may choose

the way we move through the revolutions

@bernardtwindwil thank you! I'm so not about being maudlin. Also Happy New Year :)

This was sublimely beautiful. It was a deep and honest introspection. It was well written without the least hint of pity or maudlin thoughts. Great poem!!!!!
