I wrote this about a friend that seemed in pain.

Statue

by emmeliarocheste

So cold and obsolete Weathered by rain Ravaged by defeat Chipped, scratched, stained

Rain draws tears down her cheeks Her face upturned, eyes that seek Hands folded, silently meek Prayers she says but will never speak

Stone so frigid and too hard So cold it burns the skin Hands clasped in front of her heart It'll never be broken again

She says she's lost She says she's broken She says her heart has frost She says but she hasn't spoken

So hurt, so shattered, so raw So she pours cement as her heart No one can see her numbered flaws No one can move her hands apart

She cries out to those who pass by She prays, she begs, she pleads They come to her feet and cry But then they stand and leave

So she stands alone on her pedestal She stares blankly at the sky Her face as frozen as metal Tears fall but she'll never cry

She says she's lost She says she's broken She says her heart has frost She says but she hasn't spoken

She's hurting, I can tell The pain inside her chest Too often, she fell She used to be the best

Now words are scratched into her And she just stares at the sky She pretends it doesn't hurt her She is a plethora of lies

I can see her crying beneath the blue I can feel the cold she has become I can hear the secrets that she knew I can taste the poison in her lungs

She says she's lost She says she's broken She says her heart has frost She says but she hasn't spoken

And she is frozen in the pouring rain Until she smiles to hide lost virtue She feels so much she's slain Cold, forgotten statue
