Dear Liz,

by elizabethmurray

Don't go after another girl's man. You'll hate the bitch that ever does the same.

Don't obsess over a man who does not reciprocate. Don't obsess over men in general.

Don't go to a club because your friends go. You always end up miserable.

If a friend is a friend when it is convenient for them, they are not a friend.

If you want to be alone, be alone. Don't let societies desire to be a social presence pressure you.

If your friends seem to be having more fun at other colleges, don't regret your decision. It will get better.

And don't let others dictate what you do. Do what you want. If you want to read a book read the goddamn book. If you want to eat by yourself then eat by yourself. You are not them.

Why Would You Go to a Party if You're Sad?

You dropped my chin in the dirt with amazement for you. Truer words were never spoken. Yet if everyone followed your advice we wouldn't have all these syrupy sappy melancholic poems. I often see "love" used in place of "unhealthy obsession" I loved this poem/essay. Keep up the solid rational approach. Great work.!!!!!
