Part 2 in this new series. Not sure yet how many there'll be but I really enjoy writing these so far, it's something I never really wrote about 'till now.
Hope you enjoy! :)

CountryLife Pt. 2: The Night

Countless blazing points painted on a pitch black canvas by an unknown artist - he calls it his masterpiece.

I look up to it, just to see the night sky quietly and majestically cover everything with its beautiful darkness whose silence only the rare hoots of hunting owls break from time to time.

My eyes casting around, desperately searching for the constellation you and I had discovered so long ago -

My eyes casting around, desperately searching for the constellation you and I had discovered so long ago - I named it after you.

The frozen whiteness of my breath fusing together with the cold blackness of the night,

The sole reminder that I'm thankfully or not still alive.

The sole reminder that I'm thankfully or not still alive. If something's worth living then it's this alluring sight;

The sole reminder that I'm thankfully or not still alive. If something's worth living then it's this alluring sight; Enormous trees on the picture-perfect horizon reaching impossibly high.

The sole reminder that I'm thankfully or not still alive. If something's worth living then it's this alluring sight; Enormous trees on the picture-perfect horizon reaching impossibly high. Enormous trees insolently jabbing the obscure sky.

The sole reminder that I'm thankfully or not still alive. If something's worth living then it's this alluring sight; Enormous trees on the picture-perfect horizon reaching impossibly high. Enormous trees insolently jabbing the obscure sky. Oak, beech, walnut, willow, and pine.

Yet the eye-catching landscape I always used to get lost in as a child couldn't tickle my fancy now;

It was instead the canvas above me.

It was instead the canvas above me. I caught myself murmuring words I wish I could've told you when you were here;

It was instead the canvas above me. I caught myself murmuring words I wish I could've told you when you were here; When you weren't one with the billions of blazing points up there, staring down at me.

An innocent teardrop runs down my face as I think of you; sad but calm.

An innocent teardrop runs down my face as I think of you; sad but calm. Just like this beautiful night tonight.
