A story of Orchid and Daisy in the valley behind the mountains.

Flowers from the Valley

by dawnvalley

They said there was a valley behind the mountains, where all the wild flowers always grow every time. It was untouched by society. No one goes there to pick them up or smell them.

And you can almost find all kinds of flowers there. There are sunflowers, daisies, orchids, dandelions, roses, nearly everything. They were scattered on top all of those fields.

The spring season came to this green valley. A little orchid grew and nearly bloomed. He opened his eyes look to his left and his right.

So many flowers, he saw that some of them were like him, orchids. But he also saw that many of them were totally different, just like this one flower beside him.

It was a daisy, a beautiful one, ready to bloom, just like the orchid.

"Hello, little daisy.", said the little orchid to the little daisy.

The little daisy opened her eyes to see a purplish pink orchid in front of her. She looked at him and see how beautiful the orchid was, and keep staring him for longer time.

"Hey, what's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?", asked the little orchid with a dazzled look.

"Umm, I don't know, I feel like I have seen you before.", answered the little daisy to the little orchid.

"Hmm, really? But the flowers are just blooming right now.", the little orchid pointed at all the flowers around them.

"Hmm, maybe, maybe it's just my imagination though, haha, sorry, my name is Daisy, what's your name by the way?" Daisy tried to introduced herself, but a bit awkwardly.

"Well, you can call me Orchid.", said Orchid confidently while reaching Daisy's leaf to shake leaves.

Daisy smiled while shaking Orchid's leaf

The two of them always spend their time together from dawn till dusk.

Even though they were surrounded by their friends in the valley, Orchid always felt that it's Daisy that he always enjoy talking to.

Their friendship bloomed all the way, as the spring season reach the summer.

Both Orchid and Daisy reached their peak during summer, where all the flowers get enough sunlight and enough rain, and they were growing taller and taller.

"Yoo, I'm taller than you, Daisy, I can see a lot from here.", said Orchid to Daisy while laughing and feeling the breeze of the strong winds.

"I'm just a bit lower than you, Orchid, and I don't want to be tall anyway.", answered Daisy while looking at Orchid which a bit higher than her.

"Haha, why though? I bet you can't see...", suddenly, a strong breeze of wind surprised Orchid.

"Whoa...", Orchid knocked back and tried to maintain his stability.

"See? They said that the higher you are in your life, the more and more problems coming your way, and you just experienced it literally, Orchid.", Daisy laughed and touch one of Orchid's branch.

"Hmph...", Orchid looked at Daisy and gave her a little pout, but smiled afterwards.

Both of them laughed together. Then they saw a dandelion from far away.

"Hey, looked at that tall dandelion!", said Daisy to Orchid.

"Oh yeah, he's way taller than me, hahaha.", Orchid replied to Daisy.

And then a strong wind blew the flowers again. Orchid and Daisy trying to keep their balance.

But they saw the dandelion again, the petals and his insides were scattered because he can't handle the wind. It looks like dusts flying in the air right now.

The dandelion's presence had been stripped away by nature.

"Oh no, Daisy, I hope that I won't be like that you know, disappearing.", said Orchid worried.

"No, of course you won't, I will hold you here, stay close to me, Orchid, and we can always be together.", said Daisy with a smile and then she held Orchid's branches and leaves.

They hold their leaves together, no matter how strong the wind in the summer blows, they keep standing all the way to the end of summer.

The red reaper finally came. Autumn was what they call him. The flowers couldn't stand still anymore. One by one, they started looking down. They could feel he weakens them.

Their leaves and branches had gone red. Their petals was starting to fall down. This was it, the end was near. But Orchid and Daisy was still trying to keep their consciousness together.

"Keep it up, Daisy, you can still do this.", Orchid held her leaves but he could feel the fatigue from his roots above.

"I'm trying, but I think I can't handle it, I felt really tired.", Daisy looked down and saw that one of her leaves had dropped.

"No, remember Daisy, we can still do this together, stay close to me and hold me.", Orchid tried to reach Daisy's branch, but his leaf became dry and fell out from his branch.

Both of them looked down and saw their parts of bodies that already left them by themselves. Only a single stem supporting each of them. Their petals were starting to fall down one by one.

Orchid looked at Daisy, and Daisy looked at Orchid for one last time.

"You know, Daisy, there is something that I want to tell you, before we disappeared.", said Orchid with his last strength to Daisy.

"What is it, Orchid?", Daisy replied while still trying to keep herself standing straight.

"When I met you for the first time, I know that I have fallen in love with you, Daisy, and I felt that I have loved you for thousands of years.", Orchid told Daisy while smiling, and one of his petals dropped again.

"It's really weird, Orchid, because I felt the same, and I'm sure that if we can still be alive for another thousand years, I will always love you.", Daisy replied to Orchid.

Both of them smiled until all of their petals dropped. Both of them, looking down, closing their eyes. They couldn't see each other anymore.

They felt a bit when the red reaper had left them, and they could feel it a bit when the white witch came to them.

Cold, cold, and cold, that's what Daisy, Orchid, and the other flowers could only felt.

Dark, dark, and dark, were the only one they could see.

And finally they slept without thinking if they will wake up or not.

And all the presence of the flowers of the valley, gone.

Until...

Light, light, and light came to Orchid's eyes.

He opened his eyes slowly. The little orchid bloomed, and he looked at his left and right. He saw a beautiful little flower besides him. It was a daisy, ready to bloom.

And their cycle of love always continues for another thousand of years.
