The lies we say are never enough even if someone pretends to believe you and lets you off the hook. Even if your pretend and lie to yourself and believe your little white lies.

Excuses

by darklyloved

Excuses, excuses.

They all seem like lies.

Excuses, excuses,

they all slowly die.

One fades away,

and one is used too much.

Excuses, excuses,

there is never one perfectly solid,

other than the truth.

@darklyloved I love your passion. What the hell is life without it but a swim in oatmeal.

@bernardtwindwil Oh no! You may have misunderstood me since I wasn't angered at all. Sometimes when I write or say something it may come off like that because at some points I can get overly passionate about certain things. But no, I really did enjoy hearing what you had to say about this, and about your point of view. Also I enjoyed reading about your culture where as you said "Survival depended on being truthful in all things" & "Your word was your bond." Those are beautiful thoughts that have relation with my poem.

@darklyloved I think we are at cross messages here. I agree whole heartedly with lies being an anathema. The world is full of chronic liars I used to say, "They would lie when the truth would have done them better." There is a huge difference between chronic and pathologically liars. The pathological cannot help themselves, The chronic liars do so under their own volition. I was brought up in a culture that no longer exists. Your very survival depended on being truthful in all things. Your word was your bond. This does not mean you could not sit around in the shade of a tree and swap humongous lies. obody ever meant those to be believed. I have enjoyed this exchange of thoughts. I apologize for angering you.

Also, isn't the truth always the best way to live a happy life. It would force you to do only good. Honesty is true the best policy.

@bernardtwindwil Lies will never be enough because people will always continue to lie. One lie leads to another which leads to another and so on never ending yet never becoming enough. They can and will always grow. Also some people lie in the first place to cover something up. Maybe they have a guilty conscience. People lie to themselves everyday to make them selves feel better, to save them selves of regret or the chance of a bad future even for a moment. As well, if you haven't heard, there is something called a chronic liar which is a person who will lie when isn't needed, a person living in lies without any idea or reason why.

Wow!!! You have introduced me to a side of life that I don't know that I have seen from this point of view. It was an interesting statement of position. I do not understand about lies never being enough. Why are you lying in the first place? You have confused me. Please explain. Well written though!!
