A poem about rain and trust.

Raindrops

As down I laid myself to sleep,

Within my ocean sheets to keep-

I knew for sure that it would rain,

When the promised morrow came-

With disappointment and surprise,

I cast outside my open eyes-

For the offending morning's light,

Was blue rather than misted white-

So I resigned my sorrowed self,

To a day of scorching wealth-

Until much later in the day,

I saw the skies fade into gray-

Now with brighter hope abounding,

Stepped I into the world surrounding-

Moments later raindrops fell,

Gifts from the sky's eternal well-

Now with greater understanding,

I gazed on water drops expanding-

I should have trusted as my own,

What I in fact had always known.
