Hey! :) This is a short story for the First Kiss Contest, I hope you enjoy!

First Kiss

It wasn’t your typical first kiss. They were two innocent girls, playing Prince & Princess, like little kids do.

The handsome prince coming to rescue the damsel in distress, them ending up falling in love with each other, and at the end, the romantic kiss- a classic ending to a classic fairytale.

They were laying behind the couch in the dim light of the lamp, their parents chatting and drinking tea.

One of the girls took the prince role, like she always did, and the other was the princess. Because at the time, none of them knew that there could be two princesses.

The princess propped herself up on her elbows.

'Honey, wake up.' She whispered into his ear.

The prince yawned.

'I'm going to go and eat breakfast.'

The prince put his arm around her.

'Wait a bit.' He says, hugging her tightly.

Their faces were only centimeters away from one another; they could feel each others hot breaths on their faces.

They slowly moved closer and closer towards each other, until their lips were almost touching. Then they kissed, right on the lips. The princess laid down and they hugged, kissing repeatedly.

She felt something like a fire inside her chest, which made her heart beat faster. Or was it the girl in front of her who made her heart beat faster? But she didn't know what it was then.

They carried on playing like the kiss didn't mean anything. And it didn't, did it? Girls liked boys. Girls kissed boys. That’s what everyone taught her. It was all just part of the game, she told herself.

And with that, the fire in her chest was put out. But what she didn't know, was that she didn't put the fire out completely.

There was still a spark left, silently dancing around in her heart when she thought of her. But she told herself that it's just a very close friendship and she loves her like family.

Soon, she forgot about it all, perhaps the efforts of convincing herself finally worked.

Many years later, seeing her again, the girl reminded her of it casually, saying, 'Omg, remember, you were my first same-sex kiss!" She was surprised, because she didn’t remember it at all, but all memories all came flooding back.

When she looked into her warm, brown eyes, she felt the spark became a fire, once again.

Thank you for reading!! I hope you liked this- it’s for the First Kiss Contest. And... this is actually based on my first kiss. I guess it isn’t really a β€˜real’ first kiss, but it still counts to me :) Have a nice day/night!!
