Memories

by comababy

Do you still remember,

when I tried to carve your name into the gravelly soil, and that strange gardner shouted at me, 'cause he thought I'd destroy the pavement?

Do you still remember,

when we were reading "Sisters Red" together?

Do you still remember,

when we were walking through the streets singing with all the strangers giving us irritated looks?

Do you still remember,

when we were planning our dream houses ?

Do you still remember,

when I wrote you letters every day for two weeks, 'cause you didn't feel well?

Do you still remember,

when we were playing chess in your father's office?

Do you still remember,

when we were eating lemon ice cream, sitting on that wall?

Do you still remember,

when you played me something on the guitar?

Do you still remember,

when I made you calm down in the middle of the night, 'cause you had seen a spider?

I don't think so.

Do you still remember,

when you left without a sound on New Year's Eve, and everyone was searching for you ?

Do you still remember,

when you invited me to the cinema, but then just passed by, 'cause you felt sick again?

Do you know

how bad I felt when I had to take responsibility for a sixteen year old, at the age of twelve?

Do you know

how scared I felt, when the police came, when the fire department came, when the ambulance came?

I don't think so.

Do you still remember,

how you counted down from ten, to force me to talk to you?

Did you ever notice,

we only talked about you and your problems? or the tears I cried over you?

No, you didn't.

You never do.

It's easier to just blame me,

for all that went wrong.

Well, I still remember,

but I'd like to forget,

especially all the sick little games you played.
