Chains.

by cjhale

I thought they were gone.

I was almost free.

But they're back.

The chains, they've returned, capturing my body. Ensnaring my heart. Trapping my soul.

I hang limply in their cold embrace.

I know there is no escape. I don't fight.

Why try?

There's nothing left to live for.

This was a hauntingly sorrowful poem. The raw emotions carried a huge impact. You nailed it with the "chain" subject. I loved it. Great poem!!!!!!
