Why I Learned to Code

Not a huge techy, but still learned to program

It teaches you a logical way to think

Computers are logical beasts. You can't explain something to it and hope it works. Everything is perfectly logical and you have to think steps ahead

This leads to better problem solving skills

Bugs are the WORST. But when you can solve a programming bug. You can solve anything

You're not alone

Stackoverflow and communities are there to help you. I became more willing to ask for help

I can build what I want

Instead of saying "Wouldn't it be cool if we had......", I just build it.

I find chess had a similar effect on me in a number of ways. Definitely in the logical thinking way. Made learning programming all the more interesting for me. Easily impacted the way I think
