It was a dark and stormy night, jimmy was laying in his bed texting his crush Jenny.
Jimmy had texted his crush every night to talk about random things but, tonight was the night he was going to tell her how he felt.
Jimmy’s blood rushed as his fingers click and clack against the keyboard, his heart racing and his mind running like a child running from a clown.
His fingers unmatched in the speed in which they weaved their tapestry of emotions.
“Hey, I really like you I’ve liked you for a really long time my emotions run wild whenever I’m with you, I just don’t know how to say it except I just really like you”.
The message sent as he waited and waited for her to read it. Five minutes felt like an eternity but the little blip finally appeared ...... read at 10:15pm.
His head was floating in the air, his body numb with anticipation for what she had to say. The three little dots appeared on screen as though she was typing.
All of a sudden they had disappeared, vanished into the air. He waited and waited and waited and waited but nothing had appeared again. The only thing that was still there was read at 10:15pm.
His brain began like clockwork spinning the gears to generate what might’ve happened. Maybe she had gotten kidnapped by skeletons who wanted to touch her bellybutton ..... nah that was stupid.
Well maybe a murderer had come into her house just as she was about to type I love you too, and she was waiting for him to save her.
Maybe she didn’t really read it and there was a glitch in the system. Maybe she was really an alien and had gotten called back up to her home world.
As these thoughts flew through his mind the three little dots appeared once more. His mouth twisted in a smirk, his eyes shot wide open, his knees weak and his palms sweaty.
His life flashed before his eyes to show him how he got to this point.
Just then the message beep went off and he focused his eyesight on to the message that had graced his screen the one he had been waiting for all night.
The letter zipped across the screen his mind numb with thought, the storm raged and the rain bellowed.
The message that he had gazed upon to his horror, the message that would haunt him for years to come, “k”.
