She looks to the sky for guidance But in return, receives nothing but darkness.

Where am I?

She looks to the sky for guidance

But in return, receives nothing but darkness.

Spinning in circles with no sense of direction

Where am I?

Drowned by panic and distress, her feet move faster than air

‘Run’, she tells herself, for there is a great being that lies ahead.

And the darkness closes in

The tight, compact feeling in her chest grows heavy

Muscles clenched, jaw shut tightly

You cannot run from the darkness

She puts on a smile, for life is good

Little do people know that there is a shadow lurking among her

For when there is just a glimmer of ecstasy, a slight euphoric moment

The shadow takes over.

Dimming the light.

It grows darker.

Nowhere to go, unsure of the path ahead

She walks through the hollow, empty cave of her dimly lit surroundings.

For one day, the shadow will disappear and reveal the exuberance of life

That one day will come.

Where the shadow will be gone,

The emptiness will no longer be a fathomless void

It will be filled with light and joyous freedom

But for now, the darkness hovers above

Each day resulting in the same jaded question.

Where am I?
