I'm getting awful tired of society's willful ignorance and the stubbornness of the baby-boomers.

Through Heaven's Gate

by chloeblue2

we're reminiscing old haunts

but through their eyes, our lives we flaunt

omnipotent eyes watch us unseen

but through heaven's gate our futures gleam

seemingly unknown sadness smiles

and to the world, our white teeth beguile

similarly, fondness is found so becoming

as long as it’s on some fresh-faced young thing

naturally, we are naturally alone

and so we live in the past, from reality we abscond

their pressured picture-perfect professions of love

our bloodied knuckles and screams to stars above

they think we are some candid pieces

but it’s only because our hearts are cold that we wear so many fleeces

they turned to cheap entertainment to convince us

‘try not to fall’ but instead, in their ignorance, we turn to smoking weed and alcohol

to try and keep us still, they scream praises of their glory

but in their catastrophic cacophony, they refuse to hear our story

then again who are we to say

what is to condemn and what is to praise

they think we are foolish and say that they’re wise

but in reality, we’ve just become woke to their lies

we keep up the facade of reckless ignorance

because even that is better than irrelevant difference
